ESP with TRACTION CONTROL
Avenger hugs the road so well you’ll want to hug it back, thanks to the Electronic Stability Program* (ESP) and available traction control. ESP is designed to assist drivers in maintaining control of their vehicles during extreme steering maneuvers. ESP senses when a vehicle is starting to spin (oversteer) or plow (understeer), and attempts to correct the vehicle's course by automatically controlling the throttle and applying the brakes at individual wheels. Available all-speed traction control improves traction in all conditions, especially on wet, slippery roads. The system anticipates the need for added traction and responds appropriately by directing power to the rear wheels. And it operates only when needed to help deliver excellent command in all weather and driving conditions.
*Always drive carefully, consistent with conditions. Always wear your seat belt and obey traffic laws.
ANTILOCK BRAKING
Stop—in the name of safer driving. Avenger’s standard four-wheel antilock disc brake system (ABS) with brake assist helps prevent wheel lockup for shorter stopping distances and improved control under extreme braking or slippery conditions.
TIRE-PRESSURE MONITOR
A Tire-Pressure-Monitoring System alerts the driver to low tire pressure by a warning light in the instrument cluster. A premium system displays individual tire pressure, available with the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC).
All Avenger models feature standard next-generation multistage driver and front-passenger air bags,* supplemental seat-mounted side air bags,* and supplemental side-impact inflatable air curtain air bags*—that´s six air bags of protection total!
*Always sit properly in the seat with the seat belt fastened.
The unitized upper body forms a structural safety cage to help provide protection during collisions by managing and controlling energy.
The front structure is composed of multiple crush zones that undergo a coordinated and optimized sequence of events to help absorb energy during a collision.
Because of its unique combination of formability and strength, dual-phase steel is used in the rear rails, tunnel reinforcement, and sills to help protect occupants in the event of a high-speed impact by absorbing energy in a controlled manner.
The steering column compresses up to 4-inches during front impact, absorbing energy as the driver contacts the deploying air bag.
Instead of conventional incandescent light bulbs, recessed white LEDs provide Avenger’s bright, focused interior light. And they have a much longer life than incandescent bulbs, so you don´t have to change them as often.
Leaving your car to run into the store is hard enough. Make sure it’s not any longer than that. Avenger’s standard alarm system deters theft and vandalism.
The Sentry Key® engine immobilizer prevents the engine from running without a properly encoded key.
